OFSTED PLAUDIT FOR CLIFTON SCHOOL

Posted: Wednesday, 22nd November 2017

Clifton Primary School has just had another good OFSTED inspection. Following a visit last month, the Inspector concluded that the school, last inspected in December 2012, ‘continues to be a good school’.

Amongst many other positive attributes, the Inspector commented that ‘(The Headteacher), staff and Governors have created an environment in which every child feels valued’. Also that ‘The children come first and are central to the school’s work… an inclusive community where innovation is welcomed and every small step to success is celebrated.’ Of the pupils, the Inspector noted, ‘Pupils behave well and have positive attitudes towards learning… they work hard and support one another when working collaboratively. Their manners are impeccable, showing courtesy at all times and moving sensibly around the school.’ Good quality teaching was found to be a strong aspect of provision at Clifton, and findings from the Inspection reflect that ‘..all teachers are very committed to ensuring every child receives the highest quality of teaching’, and ‘effective feedback…enables pupils to address weaknesses in their work and make strong progress’.

Headteacher, Cathryn Throup, said “Each school is subtly different, but I believe Clifton is special. I feel very privileged to be the Headteacher because I know that every member of staff and every governor is unstinting in their commitment to providing the very best quality education for the pupils who attend our school. This, alongside the dedicated support of our parents, makes me confident that together, we can continue to provide Clifton pupils with the very best start to their formal education journey. Whilst our ongoing strategic development plan will ensure that our school continues to offer high quality teaching, I hope that the additional funding received from a boost in pupil numbers from the planned housing developments within the village will help to secure the future viability of this school, which has served this community since 1844. We pledge to keep working our hardest to fulfil our mission of ‘Inspiring Minds and Shaping Futures’.”
